Juggling

Most anyone who has spent time around me can tell you that I don't have a lot of idle time.  I'm not sure how my plate gets so full, it just does!  So here are some of my current projects:

These are the kitchen table and chairs.  The small, red chairs are ones my dad gave me last year that he found cleaning out an old house.  The other chair and table were left in the home by the previous owner.  I asked if they would leave them for us, since our table will no longer work for our family of 5, and they did.
Last week, my girl friend Michelle gave me some paint and I decided to paint.  I decided the table should be white and the chairs should be multicolor.

Hannah got in on the painting fun!  Her she is painting her chair.

I also started repainting the bathroom.  It's called Bathe Blue.

And since I had that high gloss white out, I decided to touch up some other things, like this cabinet door.  And some trim and baseboards.  I almost got a little carried away "touching up" stuff.

Finished photo's coming soon!
I have missed having my own home SO MUCH!!!!!

A new piece of furniture

I've been on the hunt for a small dresser that would fit in Hannah's closet.  I need some place to put all those onesies!  Hannah's closet it weird, it's big and deep enough for a dresser to fit completely inside.  I was talking about it with my dad last month and he offered to make Hannah one out of some cedar he had acquired.

It took him a little longer than he hoped, because this was the first time he had ever made something that required a sliding rail.  I think he did a pretty darn good job.  I love that you can smell the cedar before you see it in Hannah's room.

Plus, it's bigger than I expected it, so I can fit all of baby Cernock's stuff in there and some of Hannah's.

I like it!

Kitchen Update 1 Million and I don't know, I lost count...

These pictures have been taken of the course of the last month or so.  It shows the progression of our floor, which has taken some time on our part.

And so begins a very messy job.

I don't know which is worse, the floor or the wall.  This is what was behind out dishwasher.

It would've been nice if it had all come up this easily.

Taking up the wood flooring to even out the new floor with the old floor.

And of course Hannah wanted to help.

Part of the leveling process, we had quite the dip in the floor right there.

He's pondering, he really wanted the grout lines to line up but our design pattern made that difficult.

Laying out the pattern.

Part of the completed work.

And the grout went down today!  There's some small sections in which tile stills needs to be cut for but that's it!  All that remains is some finishing work; shelves, another coat of paint and stuff like that.

Out with the old,

In with the new.  Not there was anything wrong with our old couch.  We still like it very much.  Not only do we like it, but it holds a special place in our hearts.  It was custom designed, by us, at a furniture store in Italy.  It's 3 separate sections, each section length and shape picked by David and I.  However, it's not preschool age friendly.  Each couch section cover comes off and is washable but the sections are large and it's difficult to get them back on every-time Hannah gets a little carried away coloring.  David's dad mentioned that he was going to get rid of his leather loveseat and recliner.  I jumped all over it.  Now, I'm not typically a leather furniture person.  My experience with it has been sticky.  It stick to any bare skin.  This doesn't though.  It's nice and soft.  Plus, years ago, my girlfriend Coretta told me the reason she opted for leather seats in her car was because it's so easy to clean with children.  Makes sense to me.  And that is the biggest reason I jumped all over Bob's couch/recliner.  This weekend, David had a 3 day, which is rare in the police world.  So we drove to Atlanta to pick up the furniture.  Bob also offered up his refrigerator, which we happily took to add to our brewing adventures.  A separate fridge means we can start brewing lager beers which need to ferment at a cooler temp that ale's.  And here it is....

Our old couch, piled in the kitchen

The new...

How happy we are that it ALL reclines!

A Front Door

The front door was jacked up.  It would be very difficult for me to explain it in writing.  The door was old, and did not function like a properly functioning door.  David tried to fix it a couple weeks ago, only to make it so that I could not shut the door all the way.  So we had to undo what he did.  That's when we decided we would go ahead and replace the door.  We had talked of replacing the screen door.  It was pretty dark and the front of the house was a bright white, so it just looked out of place.  Yesterday was David's day off, so we decided to tackle to the front project.  With help from a friend, the front door and storm door both went up last night.  It looks so much better!
