This is one of Joshua's new things: he likes to take his blanket and dog out of his bed when he wakes up from a nap.  Then, he lays his blanket down in random spots whenever he wants to take a short rest.

Joshua's new trick.  The first time he did this, no one saw him climb up top.  Now that we're aware of what he can do, we're extra careful of him in the girls' room!

Life happens

I haven't been very good at posting, I know.  While I try to get back in the swing of things, maybe posting a couple a month or so, here's some pictures taken over the last couple of months.

Schoolwork 

Oh hey, my name is Joshua and I have a round belly and chubby cheeks.  

I also love my thumb.

I have also decided to begin taking unassisted steps, though I'm not yet 10 months old.  It's making my mom a little sad.  

Sometimes, when Hannah goes off to do fun things that the rest of us can't do, we let ice cream heal our wounds.  

Throw ball

These aren't the best photos, because Riley is moving all over the place.  However, I think they properly convey Riley.  She's always like playing with balls.  However, over the last month or so, she's learned how to play toss with someone.  

So she'll grab this ball, which was actually used in her therapy and say "throw ball".  

And that's what she does.  She will roll the ball back in forth, but she prefers throwing it and having you throw it back to her.  

We play almost everyday.  

Her aim is pretty good, and only going to get better at this rate.  

Some of Riley's favorite things

Riley has such a big personality.  She's loud, she's in your face.  She's rambunctious and demanding.  But she also cuddles and likes to laugh.  Last night, for the first time, she gave me a kiss.  

Riley receives services through Early Intervention, because of her heart and genetic disorder.  Recently they evaluated her and determined that right now, she is tracking right where she should!  It seems that since she started walking, many other things have followed right behind.  She becomes more verbal, articulating words, every day it seems.  Here's what else she's been up to.  

This water table has become a fast favorite.  

On Sunday, we opened the back door.  Riley could see the water table and wanted to go play in it

She got pretty mad when David told her she couldn't go out and play, because it was raining.  David eventually had to close the door.  A little while later we found Riley playing in the toilet water.  ; )  

Riley loves animals.  She gets so excited about any that she sees.  So naturally, this book has become her favorite book.  She gets so excited looking at it, and squeals out the name of the animals she recognizes.  

We look at it at least once a day.  

Riley was walking around the other day, with the magnifying glass pressed to her face.  She would stick it up to her face for a few seconds, then pull it away and laugh!  

She's such a silly girl!

Tubers and Zots, with a side of Watermelon

It's been a good week.  

I picked this up for Hannah, Toobers and Zots.  It's just bendable foam in all sorts of shapes and sizes.  

They're fantastic, and Hannah has played with every day since I got them for her.  I saw them as a way to help her understand mechanical concepts, which I am not good at.  She see's them as a sword, a laser, a hat and many other different things.  

Earlier this week we had watermelon at Grandma Cernock's.  

Dancing and Eating

Here's what the girls have been up to over the last week:

Hannah, a dancing queen.  She put on all the jewelry she could get her hands on and

danced around singing a song about how pretty she and Riley are.  

Riley is sitting up, with almost no topple over's.

She's eating everything!  Still no teeth but I think she's starting to teeth.  Some of her favorites are beans, bell peppers and bread.  And of course, sweet potatoes.  

She also had her first taste of ice cream this weekend and, of course, loved it.  She didn't even shudder from the cold of it.

Attacking Lucky

This IS the reason Lucky is an awesome cat.

We're trying to get her to use her legs a little more.  She's a little behind in her gross motor development, as a result of her surgery.  One of the things she doesn't do, that she should, is support herself on her feet.  If you hold her up, she doesn't extend her legs.  So we thought this bouncer might help out and teach her that she can put some weight on her legs.
