Another Awesome Library Event

Since our Homeschool co-op is on holiday break, I've been looking for other stuff to keep us out and about.  This last week, our library hosted a local high school orchestra.  Reid Ross Classical School entertained us with many holiday tunes, along with a few others.  

A person came forward to talk to the kids about each instrument for a few minutes.  We learned that the violin can get really high.  

We heard music from the polar express, a little mermaid medley, the pink panther song along with many more.  

When individuals stepped forward to present their particular instrument, they also played a small section of a preschool song, like Mary Had a Little Lamb.  Sorry folks, I'm having a brain delay and can not think of the word I'm looking for here.  It's not lullaby, it's something else.  Oh well, I think you know what I mean.  

The cello also played a small piece of classical music for us.

The girls had a great time, and so did it.  Joshua also loved the music.  He was was bouncing around like he normally only does after I eat.  Our personal concert lasted for an hour.  After the school played for us, they offered up their instruments for the kids to touch and strum.  Pretty brave, if you ask me.  Hannah and Riley strummed them all.  

So we saw four instruments showcased; the violin, the viola, the cello and the bass.  

Hannah's favorite was the violin.

A Fancy Nancy Soirée

A couple weeks ago, our local library had a Fancy Nancy Soiree.  I like participating in  library events.  They do many things for kids, most of the time we have schedule conflicts. However, this one was held on a Saturday morning, too easy to make that happen.  

In the advertising for this event, it said to come in your best Fancy Nancy attire.  Hannah wasn't feeling the dress up though, so she went low key.  The girls got there and posed for these photo's with the purple.  

The rest of the hour went from story to craft to activity.

At the end of the hour, the girls sat for cookies and another story.  

Out of all the event's I've been to held by the library, this was my favorite.  The kids did so many different things; physical activities, story time, crafts.  It was really a good time.  

What we're reading

I picked out the book on horses, the artic and antartica and chicago.  I also picked out the two books for Hannah to read to Riley, How do Dinosaurs Love Their Dogs and Funny Mother Goose.  Hannah picked out the rest.  

Library Time

I've mentioned before that I am trying to get Hannah to the library more.  A couple weekends ago, we walked there one afternoon to hang out.  I let Hannah have the camera on the walk there to take some pictures.  Then I snapped a couple while we were at the library.  Here they are:

That's all it was.  Nothing special, other than the fact that I finally paid my late fee at the library.  I'm really bad at returning things on time, that's why Netflix works so well for me!  So I had a late fine from the end of last year, so I figured it was time to try it again.  Besides, Hannah likes the library.  They have a very small play area.  It's not a great library but it is conveniently located.  This morning, we headed out at 830.  Hannah and I struck a deal, I got to run 2 laps, then she got to play at the park.  So I ran 3.5 miles, then took Banana to the swings.  She did get off the swings momentarily to play on the slide.  After about 30 minutes, she told me she wanted to go to the library, so that's what we did.  We spent another 30 minutes there.  Hannah picked out two books, I picked out two for her and one for myself.  Then I ran another two miles on my way home.  It was a great morning.
