How to make a naked egg

A few weeks ago, I decided to have some fun with an egg.  A friend mentioned how you could remove the shell from an egg by soaking it in vinegar for a few days.
Apparently, lots of kids have done it.  I never did, and was very excited about doing it with Hannah.
Grandpa Bob was coming for a visit, so I clued him in to our experiment and then timed it so the egg would be ready to go when he came to visit.
Oh yeah, the egg gets bouncy.

Day 1 of our experiment, both of these.

This was after 2 days.

After 3 days Hannah proceeded to play with her bouncy egg.  Until it splattered.  My camera was nowhere close when it happened.  And when a raw egg that's been sitting in vinegar for days splatters on your counter, you want to clean it quickly.

Then we decided to play with a hard boiled egg.

We watched how a lit match sucked a hard boiled egg into a glass bottle.

Hannah REALLY enjoyed when the egg splattered on the bottom of the glass.  She wanted to do the experiment another time.

We talked about why these things happened, in both scenarios.  But it sure was fun splattering our eggs.
