Banzai Big Curve

This is the giant pool we borrowed from a friend.  We borrowed it because we are thinking about getting something very similar to it.  The on going debate is who will be the person that ends of taking care of it.  Right now, I'm the one who fills/cleans/empties the other pool we have.  Last year David bought a pool he was all excited about and the excitement last about 12 hours!  So I'm really skeptical about getting a pool this big(expensive) only to have it become my chore.  I'm perfectly content with Hannah's little plastic pool.  David SWEARS that he'll take care of it.  So part of the reason we're borrowing it is so that I can what this all means for me.  We probably will get the one we like, this one: Banzai Falls Water Park.

Here's a picture of the one we've been looking at:

I must admit, it's a lot of fun.  I went down the slide a couple of times yesterday.  Hannah loves it.  It's just something we can all have fun in together.  I like her other pool, but it's too small for an adult to really have fun in.  Right now, we're enjoying the one we have.  I'm holding out for no rain today, there's a 40% chance of isolated thunderstorms, so that we can enjoy today.

Putting things together

It's taken us months this time, to put together the baby items.  Two large items, the bassinet and the stroller got put together yesterday.  Baby items sure are large!

The Bassinet

Hannah was in charge of collecting the trash.

And holding pieces in place while daddy screwed them together.

The finished product.

All put together, with the legs extended and bedding.

And now, the stroller.

Hannah wanted to push it.  David didn't believe that it would fit our car seat.  So that's why our car seat is sitting on it.

Now all we need is the baby.

Strawberry Picking

Last weekend Hannah and I went to a local strawberry farm to pick some strawberries.  I wanted to get a bunch so that I could freeze them.  Michelle picked strawberries about a week before and brought me 5 jars of strawberry preserves (syrup ; )) so I wasn't going to do that, just freeze them to have throughout the year.  I used to go pick strawberries with my grandma at this farm.

Here's the pictures from our strawberry picking adventure.

Surprisingly, she didn't eat any.  She was red from head to toe when we finished.  We picked 2 buckets full.  As we were leaving, Hannah spilled the one she was carrying in the sand.  I just scooped them back up in our bucket.  The guy at the stand offered to let me pick some more that were not covered in sand  but I explained that it was no big deal.  I soaked and rinsed them a few times when I got home, before I did anything with them.  We got about 9 lbs of strawberries and I froze all but about 1 pound.

The next day I made homemade strawberry muffins with the preserves Michelle brought me.  I should've taken pictures of them!  I used a pretty basic strawberry muffin recipe, but left out the sugar and just dumped the preserves in.  I figured the preserves would have enough sugar to make the muffins sweet.  My guess was dead on, they were so good.  They were super moist and yummy.  My sunday school class really enjoyed them.

Hannah's New Bed

We picked this up a few weeks ago for Hannah.  It's a twin sized, platform bed.  The headboard is all storage, so I'm using it to put all her blankets and sheets in.  I can't believe how much room she has in it.  When we read her bedtime stories we can lay beside her in bed.

At the foot of her bed is a tall white bookshelf.  We just blocked the bottom shelf so that we didn't have to move it.

Brady really likes her new bed.

Kite flying Adventure

The Easter Bunny brought Hannah spring themed things, instead of a bunch of chocolate and candy.  Is it just me or did kids get candy for everything now?!  The Easter Bunny did leave Hannah a handful of mini Kinder eggs, but the rest was spring themed: sidewalk chalk, bubbles, a kite, and a twirling baton.  We've been waiting for the right wind day to get out with the kite, which we finally had last Thursday.

Alright Hannah, this is how you do it.

Flying it all on her own.

I like Hannah's expression in this one, you might have to zoom in for it.

Kite flying went better than bike riding.  It didn't last a long time, probably about 15 minutes or so.  And Hannah had fun, she even flew the kite by herself a few times.  I just stood back and watched, because does not know how to fly a kite!
Running around to get it back in the air after a fall.

More slippin and a slidin

It all started Saturday, at Hannah's birthday party.  I pulled out the slip n slide only to discover that the only kid that really knew how to use the slip n slide was Braylon.  And I certainly couldn't show them!  The kids still had fun on it, but Hannah only went down it one time and then just stayed in the pool.  Yesterday, I asked David if he wanted to pull out the slip n slide and show Hannah how to use it.

Set up

Trying to show Hannah the concept of what she would be doing.

At first, she kept saying that the water was cold, which hindered the learning process.

She got it, with a little help from dad.

David explaining that the crouching position works best...

Wait, try again...

Like this!

It didn't take long for the water to not be cold anymore and for her to love it.

She kind of has the hang out it.  She has trouble going on her belly but she does pretty good sliding down on her butt.

Just like this, Hannah

And the float kept moving right out from underneath her.

If you look closely you can see a little bird.  He's bathing in the slip n slide water runoff.

1 May 2011

Hannah's actually birthday was spent doing regular stuff.  We got up and went to church.  She played with her birthday stuff all day.  No really, I think she tested everything out that she got.

Her rapunzel dress.  She's had this on since she got it.

Playing with sidewalk paint from Tammy and Kyle.

She got a new hoola hoop.  It's smaller and without any lights to throw the weight off, yet she finds the old one easier.

I love the way my child thinks.  I walked back to the playroom yesterday and found this:

From inside the room.  She got this banner from Aunt Barbara.  She just decided to open it and put it up yesterday!

Painting her Tinkerbell posters.

And finally, nap!  I laid down first, then she crawled up on the couch with me and we both napped.
